Now, I just feel like wanna put it in Black & White.Insa Dong, as I mentioned earlier, is an interesting street, and was always on the look out to capture something as a memorabilia.
Hope, even in black & white, one can still feels the happening of the street.
A lady reading a pamphlet, may be, she is also a tourist like me, or may be just a local tourist, looking at another interesting places to go, or even just wanna know the bearing of her whereabout in Insa Dong.
This guy is waiting for customers, I was informed that, inside that huge pot is Kimchi, the local traditional delicatessen, pickled onion.
Whilst some of the people, browsing the items for sale, in this case, some antiques, very old manuscripts, junk to one but treasure to others.
Then, this veteran gentleman, just smoking his day away, enjoying his retirement life, yet he is very smartly dressed, kes abis bank lah ni.
Then for some, they have had enough happening for the day, they are moving away from the busy street of Insa Dong, to another place with a different ambience.
After a few years absence from Insa Dong (as if I'm here every year), oh well, the last trip was actually in 2006, now I'm back again.Insa Dong is one of the most visited street in Seoul i.e. must visit street when one is in Seoul. The street itself, is still the same as few years back, still as vibrant, lots of people, and now I noticed that, large number of people are lugging around their huge DSLRs, so I was quite alright.
One of the signboards which one can not miss when entering the street.
Upon arriving at the area, there was a street show performing Korea's traditional culture, unfortunately, the show finishes less than 5 minutes after that, they might have started much earlier.
Hence, I was not able to capture load of stuff, and only manage to get these.
So why Insa Dong, what is there so special about it, you might ask.Well, there are many interesting stuff that you can find here, from tiny little antiques, to the typical Korea souvenir and what interest me most is the many interesting type of people that you can see here.
Language might be a barrier for most of us, but numeral or numbers are still the same, so when you are traveling to a foreign area, remember to bring a compact calculator, so that it is easier for you to communicate.FYI, USD1 = 1,000WON More to come, with more insights and perhaps some travel tips and photo tips.
.. well I guess .. we've had enuff of Insa Dong ... some of you might be bored of it by now ... oh well... no worries ... we're off to other destination... we'll be leaving the street of Insa Dong .... with that I'll leave u with this photo to reflect back on whatever it is u gonna leave .....
.. didn't notice them when they came towards me... only when they passed I realised it .. hence not to missed this classic look ..... also a perfect photo for this post ......thou only managed to get this ... them leaving the street ..... or may be ... just may be ...... to meet up with that lady in white ...
.. .. before ... it was those colourful dresses ... then... those colourful threads ... and now ... quite colourful scrolls .... not so sure what it says ... tried reading it ... left to right ... up to bottom .... right to left ... n yeaah ...I guess It was right to leave it as it was ... just could not understand the writing....
.. then walking further along ... saw this interesting interaction .....
Ciggie Guy: " .... k... let me pay u double ... make it USD15.80 .... hope this will make u happier .... just call it settle ...."Cap Guy: ... " ... eeeeehhhh ... what do u think I am.... u just don't know how hard it is to get that stuff .... it took me weeks... if not months .. just to get hold of 39 shots of it .... running thru the rain .... with all the mosquito bites .... hiding from any distraction .... and carrying all those heavy gears .... just to get hold of that Macro Photography shot ... N U PAY ME USD15.80???? ... k Pay me USD13 and I'll call it a deal..."
One of the beauty about cold climate country is their flowers ... loads of colourful flowers can be seen along the street .... just like the Cherry Blossom in Japan ... Korea have their own breeds of flowers as well...
... saw this contrasting features/flowers on one of the balcony wall (above photo) ..the flower's called .... Bungaie Gantungis DiDindingtugaitus..... look at it .. once ....look at twice .. then *thuuubs* I hit the lamp post ... *ouch* .. kacau eh ... ( no I was exaggerating...) .. but when I realised the contrasting colour of the flowers and the wall.. then I can't help myself capturing this ... I purposely compose it in such way .... to show the "Hanging Garden" .... thou it might not be the Hanging Garden of Babylon but yet ... hmmm....
I purposely composed the photo as it is, to show the location of the flowers, otherwise, if it was composed tighter, it won't show the location of the flowers, which is "hanging" ....
... also interesting along the street is the type of handles ... be it door handles... window handles .... bucket handles...
.... Handle can be simple .. complicated .. comfortable ... large .. small.... yet no matter how they are... they play an important role for that particular stuff .... but for this particular handle .. what's so interesting or different from the rest of other handles? ... Look at it carefully ... n you'll find out what ....
... different dress sense ... different type of people ... different character ..... some are standing ... walking ... sitting ...
... " ... well son .. U listen to me now ... before u jump into the stock market world ... u ought to do your homework first .... understanding your P/E Ratio, analysing the growth rate, assets in hand... debt liability .... dividend pay-off and all .... I can talk to u with more technical stuff with all those stock market jargon ... but I'm afraid ... not only u ... but I myself won't understand what I'm talking about ..... hmmmm... BTW do u know Rain? ... he once asked me for consultation in stock market ... taught him only for a few hours ... but he can't understand what I said ... so he quit hence he becomes a singer .... " ..
.. I Think ... this is one very "fashionable" street ... just like a huge catwalk runway ... many different types of clothing can be seen ... smart ... hip-hop ... Karl Lagerfeld thingy ... Alexander McQueen ... and Armani suits ..etc .. just top name a few ... and in fact ....... Cool Guy Kind of Thingy ...
... *whistling* ... " ... hai senangnya dalam hati .... abis bank udah ... ani kan round-round .. jalan-jalan cari projek baru .... " ...
.. then further along the street .. saw this very smartly dressed "Young-Man" ...may be he was talking with his friend over the street ....
"... oh .... kalau engkau jadi bunganya .. biar aku .. jadi kumbangnya ... kalau engkau jadi cerutunya ... biar aku jadi asbaknya .. waduh .. bisa bingung ni ... gue kangen nih .."
...whilst in Bangkok we managed to get to walk along this "tourist street" called Khao San Road ... lotsa happenings over there.... and Insa Dong was more or less the same... but with more variety of activities ..... when I saw these 3 friends ... I quickly snap them up ...
Guy With Black Shirt: " ... cemana nyaman sigupku atu? ... baru ku order tu arah ebay ... murah jua .... bali 17 boxes free 26 batang .... free postage n handling lagi .. sama dapat free poster Timbalan Perdana Menteri Australia.... "Guy With The Cowboy Hat: .".... isshk...cana tah jua kan merasa ..... inda tia mau lighter ku ani ... ani kan gian udah kan besigup ....ada batu kah? ... kan ku geselkan membuat api ah ..."Guy With The Cap: " .. eleehh kamu ani ... udah ku quit smoking baru tah kan share ....pakal ganya ku beranti besigup udah ... baik jua ada laminit labuan ani .... kena kirimi dari Lawas ... mun inda ... inda kamu ampit sigup ah .... adang luan deh ... quit tah kamu deh ... save tah duit ah ... dapat jua membali mutuka sport .... "
... Korean ... as in Malay Culture ... or even in India ... the local dresses are very colourful ... Han Bo is the traditional clothes for Korean ... as what Kimono is to Japan ... or Baju Melayu/ Baju Kurung to Malays ... or Sarees to India .... and of course ... obviously ... those colourful materials ... and even the raw materials ... can be found along the street of Insa Dong ...
... but the raw materials above ... are use to make local handicrafts ... .. or otherwise .. u can just .. ikat saja ingin-ingin ati .. taucang ... jadikan galangkah .. key holderkah ... ikat saja tia .. macam time intake .. Bros kah tu dulu or .. was it Gersang? .. aduiii .. atu lama ... .. mun inda .. simpan saja jadikan perhiasan silam yang tak mungkin akan dapat dilupakan ... eleeeehhh.. apa kan ...
.... what's a place without a Sign ... so .. monsieur ... n mademoiselle ... I present u ... The Sign ..
.. Insa Dong ...
.. waduh .. kayaknya macam di Indonesia dong ... dong dong banget ... tumben ketemu di sini eyah ... emangnya gimana eya .. ngak di mengertian dong ... tapi di Brunei jugak ada dong-dong nya... Ga-Dong .. Jeru-Dong ...
.. then .. there's this alley ... when I look at it .. it reminds me of those that's always in the Korean Drama Series ... (not that follow any of the series ....) ... or even those Japanese TV Series ... thou I hope I can share it here the way how it's suppose to be looked at ... ( except that the real one is obviously in colour) ... ada macam lorong di kampung c Oshin kah .. mun inda yang cerita Korea Full House atu .. or Sassy Girl ... ?
.." whoooaaa... I never realise it's hard to ride this girlish bike ...." ... " .. aaahh that's the way to ride a bike ... ~ .. I wanna ride my bicycle ... I wanna ride my bicycle... I wanna ride my biiiikkkkeeee........~... ok hold on .. lemme get a photo of u riding it .. n post it at Friendster n MySpace ...."
... saw these moulds ... not so sure what was it use for ... vase perhaps ..? .. tempat menumbuk belacan perhaps ..? ... a unique ashtray ...? .. oh well.. doesn't really matter ... as long as I can capture it .... n share it here ...
.. tapi yang pentingnya pasti .. yang ini bukannya bekas ... tempat raja bersiong ...
... there were actually loads of these stuff.. more than 20 pieces .... n speaking of which ...
.. did you know that are 3 types of people in this world .... 1 are those who can count ... and... 2 ..are those who couldn't....
.. as mentioned in earlier post .. one can find so many stuffs and happening along Insa Dong ... as shown in the photo ... a cook ... preparing a traditional dishes ... not so sure what's cooking thou ... no signage .. no poster ... even if there was ... no use to me ... I can't read Korean ... nor understand Korean Language ...
... remember the saying ... " Too Many Cooks .. Spoilt The Broth..." .. and Too Many Eaters Finish The Dishes Faster... speaking of which ... I'm hungry ...need to get dinner first ....
