BRUNEI | SAMBUTAN HARI KEBANGSAAN | Part III

This time around, I did not take a lot of photos, all in all, roughly less than 2 GB, or barely just a hundred photos only, as we were indulging ourselves with the celebration. Anyway, perhaps, these are the last set of photos.

The "infamous" girl photographers? Looking for their
Romeo Razali?

Chimping over her LCD screen, making sure everything is in.

Everybody is busy doing their own thing, rushing here and there.

A heavy argument?

Some of the sponsored balloons.

One of the lady participants.

Time like this is considered to be a feast for the flyers/adverts distributers, sticking their pamphlet everywhere especially the car's wipers. If only they stick their flyers on Knight Rider, for sure they will be smooth talk by KITT.

Another ingenious way to place their adverts, "sure read one meh", as it is placed on the driver's
door.

Finally, I'll leave you with this photo, are we ready for change? or Have we change? Can we accept changes? It is quite easy to instill new ideas to the infants, but can the senior citizen change their mindset?

As what the wiseman says, Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

And what I like to say," Hujan Emas Di Negeri Orang, Hujan Batu Di Negeri Sendiri, Ambil tah dulu emas di negeri orang, udah atu bawa balik ke negeri sendiri!"

It doesn't need a scientist to figure out what I meant by that, but if you really look deep into the sentence then you will agree with what I said.

BRUNEI | 25th NDP 2009 | Part II

Some more photos of the day.

Slippery when wet.

The Young "Luke Skywalker" ?

Rations for breakfast.

Anxious for the big event.

Exchange of items.

Getting ready to walk the walk.

I thought this painted plastic bottles were famous, aren't they?

The participant before entering the stadium.

Some uniformed participants.

SM Mentiri, one of the secondary schools taking part in the event.

BRUNEI | 25th National Day | Part I

23rd February 2009, Brunei celebrated the 25th National Day.

I bet, all of the local webpages will be posting about today's celebration, and I hope, you can find something here which is not available else where.

Different people have different view in contributing their share during this day, for us, this is one of our ways to contribute, by sharing the celebrate moment with all of you out there.

Having a quick breakfast before the big show, as they said, do not miss your breakfast.

Last minute adjustment of the attire.

The "coach", making sure the participants are in order.

A great bunch students, all of them are prefects, from MD, as they said, the hostellites are requested to participate in the field performances, where as the non-hostellites were asked to participate in the flag waving.

Well, well, well, no prize for guessing who they are. Great gears Mister!

Another participants, doing his last minute touches. Rugged you atu Mister!

Some of the participants from the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sports, MCYS.

The contingent from the People with Special Needs, having a chat with their Head of Contingent.

One of the many Zones, get your zones right, make sure you are either the Twilight Zone, Boyzone, "Zonas" Brothers!

Some pretty ladies who cannot resist to see me in gear, asking to capture their sweet pose.

Happy 25th National Day.

BRUNEI | Children,Our Future

What I found quite touching, even til now, is to see children mesmerized in such a patriotic ambience.

A child holding the National Flag, moment like this, for sure will linger in their memory, until they are old.

Something, that they can share and tell their school friends, families, and perhaps to their small kids.

So bring your kids, let them experience the experience, be a part of the national history.

BRUNEI | NDP | The Drums

It is good to see that the schools' band are back in action.

I always wanted to join the school's band back during the ol' skool years, but I never got the chance to be in it, thou I do enjoyed the performances back then, them playing some songs, even some joget songs, and dancing along with their instruments!

The drums, ready for action.

BRUNEI | NDP | The Souvenir?

Saw this every year.

Can somebody enlightened me about this stuff?

Is that some sort of souvenir, or ornament, or some sort of a symbol of some sort?

Nope, not that Sergeant mark, that I know, the one he's holding that is.

BRUNEI | NDP | The Real Sharp Shooter

Some photographers categories themselves as a sharpshooter, whereas I don't think I'll ever categorize myself as one, 'coz the term itself just does not seems quite right.

Furthermore, I occasionally took some intentional blurry photos.

I think the one who can categorize themselves as such is this.

This is the "real" one. :)

BRUNEI | NATIONAL DAY 2008

Today marks the 24th National Day of Brunei Darussalam

I don't know why, but I don't feel like taking load of photos today, walkaround for a few blocks, met some people, took just one or two shots, then off to the Taman.

Saw load of photogs, local, imported, men N women all alike, young and seniors, whilst some photog. have "change" their profession to videographer and such.

Anyway, I was hoping to capture some people on the street, unfortunately, this year's celebration, there were not many people on the street! Was it because most of the "public" were involved in the actual field performances?

So, yeap, I was just at the grandstand, putting down my camera, and enjoying the field performances, a big round of applause should be given to those performers.

This year, the celebration was held at the reknown Taman Omar Ali Saifuddien, or Taman SOAS, and for the 25th National Day celebration, next year, as it will be grandeur, most probably it will going to be held at the National Stadium, yet to be confirmed.

So till that time comes, enjoy your present celebration.

BRUNEI | The Path .. Happy Teachers' Day ...

.... today is Teachers' Day in Brunei .. but due to the fasting month .. the actual celebration will be postponed to a later date ...

... so just wanna wish the teachers .. Happy Teachers' Day .... to all the teachers .... lecturers... tutor .... cigu ngaji .... cigu masak ... cigu driving ... cigu nyanyi .. dan semua jua jenis cigu .. kecuali buah ciku ...

... the path ... leading to a greater knowledge ...

... Some reflections ...

.... Teachers who inspire realize there will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how we use them..........

... Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions....

....
A teacher's purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image..........

....
By learning you will teach......by teaching you will understand.....

....
The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book.......

.....
The secret of teaching is to appear to have known all your life what you just learned this morning.....

.. and BTW for the teachers...
Never try to teach a cow to sing....it wastes your time and annoys the cow!

WORLD | Ramadhan ...

....~.... Marhabban .. Ahlan Wahsahlan Ya Ramadhan .... ~

... in our "normal" calendar ... the date changes everytime the clock is at 0000 Hours ... where as .. in the Islamic calendar ... the date changes during Maghrib .. which is... more or less.. during sunset ...

... so this evening will mark the 1st night of the Terawih prayers in Brunei .. and for other muslims in many part of the world ....

.. the photo above shows the Sultan Mosque (Masjid Sultan) in Bussorah Street (Arab Street) Singapore ...
(Feel free to use the photo as it is for your Ramadhan greetings)

... so marking the start of the fasting month .. I'd like to seek forgiveness from you all... if perhaps .. some of my posts might be a lil be controversional or .. something there about ... or whatever reason it may be ....

Thought of the Day ...

... if u think about it ... the some of the beauty of Fasting are... it can help u to diet .... it can make you feel how some unfortunate people are living without inadequate diet ...

... if u actually follow the routine.... Sahur (sohur) ... Sungkai (Iftar) ... Terawih prayers ... eating moderately .... starting off with dates ... ( encourage to eat in odd numbers ... preferably 7 dates .. ) ... insya Allah ... you'll have a healthy lifestyle ....

... Ramadhan .. is the time of reflection of oneself .... being close with the creator ... time for forgiveness.... time for giving .... giving a lil bit of your earning... to be given to the orphanage ... to the needies.... spread the wealth ....

WORLD | Moon Sighting....

... Muslims in many countries around the world are into the moon sighting spree .... to determine the start of the fasting month (Ramadhan) ....

... there are 12 months in the Islamic calendar ... and there are either 29 or 30 days in a month... thus .. that's where the sighting of the "new" moon determines it .....

... but this year ... the new moon was not visible in Brunei ... and according to the astronomical people... the moon's below the horizon ... hence u could not see it ... unless u go real high ... at a very high altitude... say above 20,000 metres ... then perhaps u can sight the moon... but hei .. it beats the purpose ... as it is also not practical ....

... sunset at one of the local beaches ....

... btw ... earlier today ... the University of Brunei Darussalam a.k.a. UBDcity (UBD) ... held it's 19th convocation ... so congrats to those who made it thru today ... good luck in your future undertaking ....

... and on the other side of the world .... today also marks the 6th year after the tragedical (is there such word?) ... 911 ....

... peace u all ...
