... officially opened in December 2006... covering an area or 1.1 million square feet of retail space .. it is considered the largest in Singapore compared to Suntec & Ngee Ann City .. .. thou I still think that .. Suntec is larger ... hmmm... or it just feels like it .... oh well.. .. anyway ... to go there.... just get off the MRT at Harbour front .... from here.. you can also go to Sentosa Island .... either by cable car .... ferry ... by car .. or by the express train ... ... Vivocity was designed by the reknown Japanese architect Toyo Ito .... who focuses in utilising the nature... climate ... and open spaces ........ and the Engineer is ... eermmm.... hmmm... doesn't mention anywhere ... why always like that ah.... only the architect built the building ah ? ... aiyoo....
.... the outer cladding of Vivocity .... which evokes the images of waves in the sea....
... .. few decades ago ... building with a double digit storeys were a rare sight .. or perhaps .. even non-existence at all... the buildings are usually .. double storeys ... or at most seven or eight storeys high ... .... then .... there was a breakthrough ... IBB (now BIDB) ... built the first building in BSB with a double digit floors .... it was for their HQ at that time ..situated a the very corner.. of the street ... facing the water village ...... but now.... they have move to a new HQ with a new building .. also with a double digit floors ... just few blocks away ....
... .. hmmmm... and WHY .......- Why .... are they called buildings, when they're already finished? .... aren't they suppose to be called builts? ...
- Why .... are they called apartments, when they're all stuck together? .. (stuckments perhaps...)
- Why ....... do banks charge you a "non-sufficient funds fee" on money they already know you don't have?
- Why .... is it that woman have a "pair" of panties and only one bra?
- Why do people go to McDonald .. or ... Burger King and Order a Double cheese burger or Whopper with a Large French Fry and insist on getting a Diet Coke?
- Why...... do ballet dancers always dance on their toes? ..... Wouldn't it be nice to just hire taller dancers?
- Why ......do scientists call it research when looking for something new? ... doesn't research means that .. you have search for it.. but then .. u are searching it again ... .. just like exam's re-sit ... or ... drinks refill .... hmmm.....
- Why....... is a carrot more orange than an orange?
- Why ....are there 5 syllables in the word "monosyllabic"?
- Why ........ do we go under over-passes and over under-passes?
- Why ... if 2 planes nearly hit each other .. they are called ... near-miss ...? ..
... why.... hmmm.....
.... I guess .. this need no introduction .... despite of only showing a bit of the actual structure... people will already recognise what it is .... can't u ...?... well... this is for sure one of the most photograph structure in Malaysia .... every tourist including the local tourist ... would have the photograph of these structure lurking somewhere in their album .... ... hmmm.. but now .. the challenge is ... how to capture it in a different angle ....
... the colour of the tower is quite catchy ... looking above .... one can see the contrasting colour of the sky and the rafters .....
... in some parts of the world... most of the housing or building along the beach are usually painted in pastel or brightly coloured paint..... which look quite interesting and "photo-able" ....
... a typical scene from a construction's site .... the big blue twin towers at the background are normal for a large construction's site .... ... where as the large rock boulder at the foreground .... eermmmm... it is not even a rock actually ... it's a large lump of hard soil ... being compressed under intense pressure for a very long period of time .... ... during our Geology period ... we have to "scrutinise" each rock .. use a magnifying glass... check every detail of material particle contained within the rock .... the purpose was that, so that we know what type of soil/ground that project will gonna be sited.... hence we can design an appropriate foundation for it ....... Thus ... Engineers' work are mostly buried underground ..... 
... as Brunei is still a developing country ..... hence...the Construction Industry is one of the most important industries in Brunei ... .... nowadays Brunei have increasing number of local professionals in the Construction Industries ..... Engineers... Architects ..... Quantity Surveyors....and the likes........ but most of the unskilled labour forces ... still... are "imported players" .....I still remember during the "university years" ... the lecturer told us that Engineers and Architects rarely agree with each other....... and told us that the Sydney Opera House would not be erected if not because of the Engineers.... because .... the Architects just designed what ever it is in their mind .... then the Engineers would then think of how to erect that structure ..... and yet it is usually the Architects who got the name ....... I guess it's true .... the nearest example .. Brunei ... just drive along any developing area .... look at the signboards .... the biggest one, and on top, will be the Architect..... then ... below it .. and in smaller print ... would be the Engineer .... M&E... QS ... Contractor ... etc .... sian ah ...... but also... how to change the public perceptions ..... if there is a beautiful structure or building ... people will say .... "... wow... who is the Architect ...? " .... .............. but if that structure collapse ... automatically .. people will say ... " ... hmmm who's the Engineer....? " ........ it's quite disappointed that most of the Engineers' work are buried underground .... oh well... what to do .... that's life.....
