... in the local traditional wedding scene .... also one of the important piece of items as part of the cultural wear is the head gear .... .. for the bride .. it is usually the "crown" .... or in Malay .. called the "Gandhi" ........ as for the design ... it is up to the individual in how they want it to be .... ... but this time around... I found this to be quite interesting ..... obviously it is not the typical crown .... and at first glance ... it seems to be like beads ....

... Kain bertenun .... is a special kind of woven clothes .. use usually during a special function or ceremony .... ... a piece of the cloth (2M length) can be as low as B$200 and could be as high as more than B$3000 a piece ... especially the Kain Tenunan Brunei ...

... older generation had mentioned that .. only those who are already married can "powdered" or "Membadaki" .. the bride/groom ... .. well it is some sort of Adat orang kitani udah tu nya ........ some people are anxious to have a go ... but some they would "hide behind the column" so that no one will ask them to .... eermm...

Majlis Berbedak-bedak Mandi ... is a usuall held straight after the Nikah Ceremony .... .... it is another one of the many local traditional ceremony held during a full local wedding ceremony .......... elderly family members usually ... will dab some powdered liquid to the bride/groom's hand .. as a gesture of goodwill for the newly wed ...
.. one of the elderly ... during the ceremony .... ... btw .... the effect was done in-camera .... i.e. by adjusting the flash .. and zoom .... :)
... yang banarnya .. I tot awalnya ... berbedak mandi ani .... mandi banar-banar wah ... makai bedak ... but then ... inda jua ... napa nya kan ah yang banar nya dorang kena panggil catu .... may be ada cerita awal disebalik nya .... n now .. kirakan ianya atu ... kira simbolik lah saja....
... tapi jgn jua .. bedak nya mau ngam jua ... bedak Johnson kah .. bedak yang empat segi atu kah .. bedak Ammens ... atau jgn saja bedak Agnesia .. or Badak Sumbu !! ... eh sadang luan jua eh ...

... a relative of the newly wed... receiving a "door gift" .. as she arrived at the ceremony ... ;)... in the local wedding scene ... giving a door gift for the guest is considered a norm ... given at the "door" ...or during "meet & greet" session.. it all depends on the situation ... .. different types of gift can be expected during the ceremony ... mugs ... umbrella .... frame ... praying mat.... plate... small decoratives.... place mat ... hmmmm.... I'm still waiting for those giving those actual PVC chair used at the ceremony .... so any takers...?
... what make the meet n greet session a wonderful.... and colourful one are those beautiful multi coloured traditional dresses.. worn by the multi racial ethnic group of the country ....

.. a typical local traditional Bruneian wedding does not .. and can not be concluded in half a day nor one whole day .... usually ... it will be held in stages... for few days ... which can last for more than a fortnight ....... Majlis Berbedak .... is one of the functions prior to the actual wedding day reception... ... held in separate days for the bride and groom ... it is usually held during night time ... .... whereby the family members... especially those senior one ... will take turns .. to "powder" the bride/ groom with a specially made powder .... made especially for the occassion ....
.. well now bringing u the audience .. to a new dimension... where none have ever brought u before... the GF Tangan Angle Shot! ....
.. adorning local traditional wear ..... and accessories ... the family members will then take turn to "powder" the "celebrity" ........ nowadays ... those powdering the celebs.. will usually be given a gift as a token of appreciation for the honour of powdering the celebs ...

.. in any events in Brunei ... especially .. those need to be celebrated ... i.e. weddings ... engagements ... or the likes.... families.... relatives.... and friends ... are included in the must invited list ... as they are the one who will make the function ..... ceremony... alive ........ alive with joys and laughter ..... tears of hapiness ..... and also they are the one who will gonna tease u a lot ..... loads and loads....

... a local traditional celebration in Brunei is usually "incomplete" without the sound of music from the Hadrah Gang .... which is a local percussion .. called "Tar" .. or simply Hadrah .. which is usually made from cow's hide wrap tightly around a wooden rim ... ... u rarely see this instrument being play as a solo piece band... but it is suppose to be played as a group of at least 10 people.... otherwise it won't sound as nice.... the more the merrier.... ... but to get a very large around... or shall I say ... to conduct a very large number of musician in one go is quite a challenge.. especially when the musician came from a different "Guru" ... one can not only play traditional songs ... but those creative ones will play the latest Top 10 Billboard Chart songs! ... eeermmm.. infact... Dangdut ... & Banghra pun jua boleh .... ;) .... but nowadays... with the advancement of modern technologies .. MP3s .. DIVX and the likes... some just play it on their MP3 or CD player a recorded version of the Hadrah ..... .. but honestly .. with due respect ..sorry to say ...... seriously ... it is pathetic .... banartah .... crap .... doesn't really sounds like the real thing ... the ambience is just not there.... it is better just to play some instrumental music .. rather than playing those "fake-hadrah-ambience" .....
