BRUNEI | NDP | The Drums

It is good to see that the schools' band are back in action.

I always wanted to join the school's band back during the ol' skool years, but I never got the chance to be in it, thou I do enjoyed the performances back then, them playing some songs, even some joget songs, and dancing along with their instruments!

BRUNEI | NDP | The Souvenir?

Saw this every year.

Can somebody enlightened me about this stuff?

Is that some sort of souvenir, or ornament, or some sort of a symbol of some sort?

Nope, not that Sergeant mark, that I know, the one he's holding that is.

BRUNEI | NDP | The Real Sharp Shooter

Some photographers categories themselves as a sharpshooter, whereas I don't think I'll ever categorize myself as one, 'coz the term itself just does not seems quite right.

Furthermore, I occasionally took some intentional blurry photos.

I think the one who can categorize themselves as such is this.

This is the "real" one. :)

BRUNEI | NATIONAL DAY 2008

Today marks the 24th National Day of Brunei Darussalam

I don't know why, but I don't feel like taking load of photos today, walkaround for a few blocks, met some people, took just one or two shots, then off to the Taman.

Saw load of photogs, local, imported, men N women all alike, young and seniors, whilst some photog. have "change" their profession to videographer and such.

Anyway, I was hoping to capture some people on the street, unfortunately, this year's celebration, there were not many people on the street! Was it because most of the "public" were involved in the actual field performances?

So, yeap, I was just at the grandstand, putting down my camera, and enjoying the field performances, a big round of applause should be given to those performers.

This year, the celebration was held at the reknown Taman Omar Ali Saifuddien, or Taman SOAS, and for the 25th National Day celebration, next year, as it will be grandeur, most probably it will going to be held at the National Stadium, yet to be confirmed.

So till that time comes, enjoy your present celebration.

BRUNEI | Chap Goh Mei

Chap Goh Mei is the fifteen nite of the Chinese Lunar New Year and marks the end of the celebration.

According to their tradition, young ladies would then, at this day, throw away tangerines/mandarin or what we simply call, oranges, to the open water or sea, hoping that her future Prince Charming would pick it up.

Not to forget those behind the fence.

Remind me of the TV Sitcom, Home Improvement, the neighbour, whom the full face was never shown.

A young child, watching the show by clinging to the top of the fence.

And yet, the tall barrier does not stop her from enjoying the event, trying to imitate the performers.

BRUNEI | GXFC | Part I

Like most enthusiast, looking for photo opp, the Chinese New Year is one not to be missed, one reason is due to its vibrant colours.

I've got quite a number of photo during the event, not quite sure how to better upload it.

I used to upload tens of photos at one time, but some complaint that, it took some time for the images to be displayed, thus I decided to just post a single photo each day.

But I guess, for the time being, I'll try to post few photos in a post.

Hope everything goes well.

CLASSIFIED ADS | For Sale | Lowepro & Fotofile Bag

I am actually contemplating to let go of these stuffs, as they are very practical and fit for my purpose.

After some heavy thought, I am ready to let these two very good stuffs go.

The reason why, I am selling these bags are because, I have got another camera bag ( I really like to get camera bags, don't ask me why), but I don't have enough space to store these bags, so rather than letting it gather more dust, so I hope they could get to a new rightful owner.

So here there are:

1. Lowepro Mini Trekker AW

Lowepro needs no introduction, for those who are into photography, should know what Lowepro is capable of, and how strong or durable the brand is, if you do not know what Lowepro is, perhaps you are still a newbie, a new newbie even.

According to their website the outer fabric is water resistance and there is also an All-weather cover. There is also a tripod/monopod carrier and it is great for travelling and hiking!

I rarely use this bag actually, used only for storing my gears.

So I won't elaborate more about this bag. For more info, you can go to their site.

2. Fotofile Professional Bag P-1

Now, this is an underdog of camera bag. There are loads and loads of compartment that I, myself get lost sometimes!

For those who have loads of photography gears, these is good news for you. the pockets are everywhere, big one, small one, ultra small one. Zipped compartment, velcro, straped lock you name it, this bag got it all!

It can also be a shoulder bag, or it can also be a waistbag. Honestly, I use this bag more than I use the Lowepro.

This bag should not be ignored by the way, for me, the way how I rate stuff is by checking if they have got there own website or not, if certain items does not have their own website, then it might be dodgy, but if they got their own website, then, they should be reliable.

So yeah, this bag have got its own website here.

Lowepro vs. Fotofile: The comparison

Click each image for larger view.

Oh yea, I almost forgot, the prices:

1. Lowepro Mini Trekker AW = BND110.00
2. Fotofile Professional Bag P-1 = BND70.00

Come on, CHEAP-CHEAP only meh, get it now, protect your expensive gears, so that u can use it for the National Day Outing on the 23rd February 2008!!

UPDATED: 23.02.2008

Lowepro Mini Trekker AW = SOLD!
Fotofile Professional Bag P-1 =

WORLD | Gong Xi Fa Cai

Most Chinese community the world over are celebrating their "Big" day today.

Chinese New Year is the time for giving & happiness.

What the Belly Dance is to the Egyptian and thereabout, the Chinese New Year is not complete without the Lion Dance.

It is customary to give "Ang Paw" (red packet containing few sum of money), to the Lion, and usually the Lion will be feed with cabbage, these traditions are meant for good luck, longevity and prosperity.

Just like the Prosperity Burger, which are out annually, so does the "Ang Paw", but what happen to the Knights of Prosperity? It was a hilarious series what.

A Contrast to the previous post, this area seems to be quiet.

Even the people at the very end seems to be walking away from the lonely alley.

Not even the alley cats are in sight!

TRAVEL | The Art on the Wall

Art on the wall

Wall Abstract.

Do you feel that the lift/elevator is moving quite slow sometimes?

Well, one way to make it "move fast" is by, sticking some sort of art, poster, notices or even mirror.

It will not make the lift move faster, but it will make the time of travel seems to be short, unless you stick a boring poster or some sort.

The same goes to a long blank wall, by introducing some sort of "eye candy" on the wall, it will makes your walk seems to be short.
