BRUNEI | The Brunei "Twin Towers" ...

... Thou not as high as the Malaysian's Petronas Twin Tower, but Brunei do also have their own... located at the very heart of the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan .... which housed the Headquarters of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD, (Left Building) and the Takaful BIBD, (Right Building) .... both are owned by BIBD... The Dar-Takaful are supposedly meant to be higher than the present, but due to some reasons, it was "slashed" to the present height...

The history of BIBD, started as early as before Brunei's Independence day.

In 1981 it starts of as The Island Development Bank, IDB.

.. and in 1987, it was superceded in its work by the International Bank of Brunei, IBB...

Then in 1993 .... HM The Sultan & yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, gracefully launched the new "present" building, and the renaming.. "pengislaman" .. to the Islamic Bank of Brunei berhad, IBB...

.. and finally in 2006, IBB and Islamic Development Bank Brunei, IDBB, were merge to form Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD.... with multi-branches throughout the country, it becomes the biggest Islamic Bank in Brunei... eeerr or shall I say the only Islamic Bank in Brunei at the moment ...

BTW .. there is an aerobridge connecting both building .. as can be seen from the image ...
